notrueking: (what do you even say to this)

[It's late afternoon on Saturday, and... well, it appears as though Bradley took a detour to the National Park on his way to Goldenrod. He seems fairly confused by something, although it isn't really obvious what it is...]

My, these Pokemon certainly are resilient, aren't they? You'd expect insects to do much worse against a bird made entirely out of sharp edges, but it seems as though they only ever get knocked unconscious.

How curious-though, I suppose this sport would be less popular if your Pokemon actually had a chance of dying. Nothing really works as you'd expect here, does it? Speaking of which-what exactly are the standards for that bug catching contest? Surely, a...

[...how the fuck do you even describe that thing... he doesn't have it out because he is not some kind of Ash Ketchum type, but... uh...]

...Scyther would be more impressive than some sort of cocoon, wouldn't it? I didn't have much of an investment in the contest in the first place, but it's somewhat baffling.

Well, you'd think so. But maybe there's some shit to do with weight, level, and general health.

Ah, but that's operating on several assumptions, isn't it?

[Hello there, Bradley. As usual, the camera is angled horribly strangely, keeping the entirety of Descole's face well out of the frame; you can see the edges of a smirk well enough, however, as well as the fact that his hands are steepled together on the table.]

The primary one being that those judging the contest have any taste - given that they're judging insects all day, it's safe to say that their ability to appreciate things such as that Scyther may be a bit diminished.

I'm sure you've picked a winner regardless, sir.

I must say, it suits you!

Entirely possible, my friend. Entirely possible.

[...yeah, melodramatic bullshit is kind of Descole's deal here

it is what he does

deal with it]

That aside, however - you've been noting these things are rather durable, it seems. What exactly have you done to them - have you been able to draw blood on them, even?

[And that question is actually not judging you; he is genuinely curious about this.]

[Oh hey, you're pretty close to Goldenrod there.]

Or it could always be that the contest is rigged.

What species is that Pokemon, if you don't mind me asking?

It looks quite formidable.

Even equivalent exchange is defied here once or twice. Reasoning doesn't get you anywhere when entire cities and towns flood with Magikarp for no particular reason.

That would make sense if Magikarp weren't fish. They have no business on land. Or no business without dying, at the very least.

Haven't quite heard those before, but then that creates a new issue - raining fish? How does that happen?

I'm sure it's the scientific explanation that includes teleporting us here and depriving us of our stones. Or, depriving them of their talents. [ The video turns on. A brief flash of a stone between her fingers sets the message clear. She has a stone. She actually has three of them but what's the point of showing three unless you're trying to be an unlikeable dick. ]
