My, these Pokemon certainly are resilient, aren't they? You'd expect insects to do much worse against a bird made entirely out of sharp edges, but it seems as though they only ever get knocked unconscious.
How curious-though, I suppose this sport would be less popular if your Pokemon actually had a chance of dying. Nothing really works as you'd expect here, does it? Speaking of which-what exactly are the standards for that bug catching contest? Surely, a...

Ah, yes, that's true. Perhaps they were judging it on the basis that it looks more like some sort of reptile than any kind of insect.
