notrueking: (my shadowy conspiracy let me show you it)
[personal profile] notrueking
Mr. Shirogane and I have discovered something fairly alarming-or, rather, two things that are fairly alarming. First, the door that has recently opened in my dresser has opened to what seems to be a hallway with another door at the end of it. The hallway is far too long to open into my neighbor Mr. Shinra's room, as there is only a small space between our rooms-which brings me to my next point.

Has anyone seen Mr. Shinra leave? I never heard him go, and his room appears to have returned to the state that it was in before he arrived. Even his name has been wiped off his journal. I am not too sure if he left while I wasn't paying attention or if he simply disappeared, but... it's something to look into, regardless. I also suggest that everyone who has had a door open in their room investigate them to see if the same effect is prevalent in all of them, rather than just mine. You can see the length of the hallway if you use a candle to light it up.

On another note that is unrelated to Mr. Shirogane's investigation of my room but related to the topic of odd occurrences, I have had trouble sleeping lately due to... those odd night chills. I can hear laughter and music downstairs, so... perhaps we should arrange to sit down there and listen? Considering how dreary this affair has been thus far, I think we should make a sort of a party out of it! Not enough that we're having too much fun to pay attention, of course, but a bit of food and drink might make staying up to listen to ghostly conversations a bit more bearable. What do you all say?

A party? I suppose that is just the thing to lighten things up around here. It's a pity Mr. Shinra will not be here to join us.

Yes, it is quite a pity. Although, if nothing really has happened to him, he may just show up and surprise us all, eh?

How odd. I myself have not seen him leave, but he always did tend to keep to himself. And I will assist Nill in inspecting the door in her dresser.

In regards to the gathering you suggest, I would certainly be willing to attend.

You met him once, did you not? I must confess, even though he was my neighbor... I did not know him too well.

You're going to report what you find, of course?

Capital! If everyone else is interested, I'll alert the servants shortly.

Yes; it was the same meeting during which I met Allelujah and Charlotte for the first time.

Of course; and if there is indeed a hallway leading into her room, I will want to find a way to somehow block the door.

I look forward to it, and hope the prospect of company will convince those who otherwise would have balked at the idea.

From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
I see. Good to know, then, although I have to wonder... what happened to him?

Why block it? I doubt there will be any immediate threat. ...of course, the threat doesn't have to be immediate to be there. That's an awfully good idea.

Of course! What would you like me to ask the servants to prepare? I'm afraid it's doubtful they'll know any exotic dishes, but it would never hurt to ask.

Yet another mystery...did he find a way to return home? Was he taken back in the same manner in which we arrived? Has he gone somewhere else entirely?

Given Nill's youth and inability to either defend herself or call for help, I would feel more secure if I knew the door was blocked from any corporeal intruders.

Oh, I will be quite satisfied with whatever they prepare. Much of it is new to me, after all. However, if they are able to procure peaches and some cream, I would very much appreciate it.

From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Well, I certainly hope he managed to return home. I don't really want to think about the alternatives.

Yes, that would be a fine idea. What do you intend to use?

I was planning on asking for that anyway! Peaches with cream aren't up to par with melons, but I'll settle for those for now!

I fully agree, Lord Bradley.

I do not know yet--I plan to check around the house for something suitable. Perhaps a bar can be constructed; that would still allow us to access the passageway when we deem it necessary.

Is that so? Then we should be certain to request enough that we are not competing for what is there. I doubt we will be the only ones with a taste for fresh fruit.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
A bar would work fine, I think. Or, perhaps, a wooden board. I think that would work just as well if it were nailed in place.

Ahahaha, I was anticipating that! Don't worry, I'll be sure to ask for a respectable amount.

goneonenight: (grin)
From: [personal profile] goneonenight
I suppose either will work; we can ask the servants what they have available.

Excellent. After all, it would not do to have our team of investigators distracted.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Of course! Although, I imagine if they don't have either, they can find some for us. Which makes me wonder... how much expense are we causing the owners of these houses, anyway?

Certainly not. I think all work and no fun would just wear them down, after a time.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:43 am (UTC)
goneonenight: (relaxed)
From: [personal profile] goneonenight
I intend to incur as much expense as possible, given that my presence was forced and not requested. But I will make certain Nill is as safe as we can make her.

Wise words, and some I have striven to live by.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
That was my reasoning, too. I think we can afford to have repeat parties if the other houses have similar phenomena, can't we? After all, we wouldn't want to ignore our benefactor's hospitality.

I make it a point to live by those words as well. Life's just too short to allow it to be dull.

goneonenight: (wicked~)
From: [personal profile] goneonenight
If we are to be as thorough as possible, then of course we must meet in every house. I cannot imagine anyone would begrudge us the expense, when we are working to fulfill their request.

From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Ah, certainly. Let's see how the first one goes, then!

Again we run into the instance of physical impossibilities, then? If the Hall in the Dresser is that long, I only wonder where it leads to and how. I'll need to inspect my own at some point, then.

The idea of a gathering sounds rather entertaining, Bradley. In a group, we will either attract or dissuade the appearance of spirits, and also be able to aide one another. If this does get organized, I will be sure to attend.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Apparently we do! Do you mind if I inspect yours, as well? I'm really curious as to how different it'll be from mine, if at all.

Well, I've started organizing it already! It'll be in the first house, of course, although I can't name the exact date and time yet.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twice-onsundays.livejournal.com
...Very well. I will move things in my dresser to make the endeavor easier, if you would like to come over.

At least the journals will prove useful in keeping us all updated as to the event, then. Is there anything I can assist with?

Date: 2009-09-01 01:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
That'd be fine, yes.

Hmmm. Well, I suppose I can ask if there's anything in particular you'd like to see there!

Date: 2009-09-01 01:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twice-onsundays.livejournal.com
I look forward to seeing you, then.

I'm not very picky... but if Pelmeni could be made, that would be enjoyable.

From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
I don't believe I'm familiar with that. What is it?

Date: 2009-09-03 01:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twice-onsundays.livejournal.com
Ah... It's very simple, actually. A small, thin dough filled with a mixture of chopped meat and spices, and boiled.

Date: 2009-09-03 02:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
...it sounds rather like a kind of pie, actually! I'll ask the servants if they know of it, and if they don't, I'll see if they can approximate that.

Date: 2009-09-03 02:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twice-onsundays.livejournal.com
...A pie?

One of the servants said that it was more like.. ah... [The handwriting changes slightly into awkwardly formed letters-] Dumplin?

[Back to normal] Is that it? She didn't spell it for me...

Date: 2009-09-03 02:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Oh, dumplings! Yes, I suppose that's more accurate. I was thinking of meat pies for some odd reason, hahaha!

Date: 2009-09-03 02:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twice-onsundays.livejournal.com
There is a g on the end? [A few curious pen taps- He'll figure it out later]

I suppose meat pies aren't too far off- And those also would be good.

Date: 2009-09-03 02:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Yes! Sometimes it's pronounced, sometimes it isn't. Depends on who you're talking to, really!

Very well, then! I'll have them there!

I think it's a wonderful idea! :3

Would this "party" you have proposed be for the residents of your house, or for all of us? It sounds like an intriguing idea, so long as it is more for observation than socialization.

Date: 2009-09-01 04:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
All of us, of course! We're all in this together, after all.

I see no harm in doing a bit of both.

Date: 2009-09-01 05:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mysterymachines.livejournal.com
Of course not, so long as we remember the primary purpose.

Date: 2009-09-01 05:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
I doubt anyone can forget.

Is there anything in particular that you'd like to see there, Mr. Shirogane?

Date: 2009-09-01 05:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mysterymachines.livejournal.com
Nothing in particular. I enjoy discovering others' preferences.

[A few minutes later] I realize how common it is here, but I have come to really enjoy bread. Is there anything similar eaten outside of meals?

Date: 2009-09-01 05:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Bread? Hahaha, well, I'd consider that boring, but I suppose you don't have as much of it where you're from. Have you tried any spreads? I wouldn't say that those are simply relegated to meals at all.

Date: 2009-09-01 06:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mysterymachines.livejournal.com
I [continues a few seconds later] had never actually seen it before coming here.

And no, I have not been particularly adventurous. I find it interesting enough on its own.

Date: 2009-09-01 06:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com
Hm! I'm surprised they don't have it in your country, although I admittedly don't know much about it.

It's even more interesting with spreads! I'm particularly fond of grape jam.
