01 [Video] [backdated to before port!]

Let's see, now...

[There is some clear fiddling going on here. Which is to be expected, really, given how many people currently on the barge are from pre-computer settings. It flickers from audio to video a few times before finally settling on the latter, revealing a man whose expression is less "panicked about suddenly coming back from the dead" and more "mildly annoyed at the situation."]

Though this has some features I'm unfamiliar with... I'm assuming this is some sort of radio, so if whoever's responsible for my presence here is receiving this... I'm having some difficulty in determining what, exactly, you planned to achieve by recreating my room like this. Were you truly expecting me to believe that all of that was just some sort of dream? If so, then you weren't particularly competent in doing so, since there are a number of objects that appear to be missing.

Explain yourself.

Reasonable enough, I suppose. I'm sure the transition's easier if you believe in some sort of afterlife, especially the type with rewards and punishments for one's previous life.

Even then, it does seem somewhat mild for that sort of afterlife. I don't really know much about religion, but I was always under the impression that they generally seemed to prefer eternal damnation over redemption.

I suppose it's rather like a reincarnation? Except you remain yourself, of course.

...It's not really like one at all, is it.

[She looks rather embarrassed, but soldiers on, not really thinking about her intended audience.] Maybe it's a sort of antechamber, to see how one can handle further trials when taken away from everything that previously mattered. I didn't come here under your circumstances, so I can't say for certain.

[...that pings him]

There are multiple ways that one can arrive here, then?

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Either through invitation, or the way you arrived. Those who are invited have certain responsibilities over the other kind.

[identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, yes. I had gotten that impression, although I wasn't quite sure whether the former also arrived because of their deaths.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless a train derailed at the station before I heard the commotion, no, I can't say that's how I arrived.

[identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course.

...do you know if it's also possible for the Admiral to invite people who are dead?

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[She thinks for a moment.] I suppose so, but you'd arrive here with the memory of that invitation.

[identity profile] notrueking.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Well, thank you for the information, Miss...?

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Shirogane. ...Naoto. [It seems to be the convention on this boat.] I can't say I caught your name earlier, either.

My apologies-I never mentioned it. I'm King Bradley.
